Beginning this week, we have to visit the neighboring village Gemünden over the weekends, thanks to our daughter's ballet lessons. It is a beautiful 20 minute ride. Notice that the railway track runs parallel to the country road.
In between the tracks do change position. The kids get pretty excited when there is a train up close.
and finally it disappears.
Once the lessons were complete, we walked around the village. It was very charming and nice.
Pretty soon, a little bridge caught our attention.
and see what caught my eye. I loved the reflections formed on the water.
There were pretty ducks swimming around waiting for a feed.
The moment bread crumbs were strewn, there was a mad scramble amongst the feathered friends.
We wound up our outing with some Eis( Ice cream) at a parlor. This is a Heidelbeere Becher (Blueberry Ice cream). I must say that after winter, we not only look forward to sunshine and flowers, but also an ice cream!!!
Wishing everybody a happy week of sunshine!!!!
May that blueberry ice cream looks amazing! it's been so beautiful here. I spent the morning out in the backyard cleaning it all up..finally! I wish I loved yard work but I don't! this coming week is going to be nuthing but sunshine and slightly warmer..I hope it's the same for you!
ReplyDeleteLoved your photos this week..but I always do :) that bridge is so neat looking. I always enjoy driving into Germany..alot of the towns, like in the netherlands, look like they have taken a step back in time :)
I like that you captured a tiny sun flare in the ice cream topping. Makes the sundae look magical.
ReplyDeleteI can't find the words. Incredible? Delicious? Awesome? Great post.
ReplyDeleteYou're a great photographer. The colors are so vivid. I'm especially drawn to the last picture. Thanks for this special tour.

@Sonya: I love yard work but have no yard..:( The weather has been gorgeous and we are so loving it!!!
ReplyDelete@Tara: The sun flare amazed me too. I realized I had captured one only after transferring the pictures to the Mac..:)
What beautiful pictures! I remember,so well, my wonderful visit to France for my 40th birthday ( I've been back many times since) - that time was most special because we drove from Paris to the Lohr Valley, then to Bordeaux, Biarritz and Bayonne, then across to the Mediterranean after visiting Carcassone. Once we had spent a few days on the French Riviera, we headed back to Paris. It was such a fabulous journey!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the time I visited Heidelberg.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the ducks playing the water and the whipped cream, yummmm :)
ReplyDeleteI really could get lost in that reflection photo! So nice. Um the icecream is kind of screaming my name too!
ReplyDeleteFirst I thought the bridge and the colors of your photos were gorgeous, then I got to the ice cream sundae and started drooling :-)
ReplyDeletehappy SIMC, jj

Hey May
ReplyDeleteLovely blog enjoyed reading the few posts that I could catch up in the last 10 minutes. Yes this blogging do help us to get out into the world and be ourselves , actually more than ourselves :-). Is there a blog where I can link my weekend posts, I could not see it. Happy stay in Lohr and enjoy the beauty around. I am glad spring began to arrive atleast somewhere.
Looking at these photos makes me wish I was there, too. :) I really love that photo of the bridge. There's something about bridges that's so... beautiful. Maybe it's the arc. LOVE that ice cream shot!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your very sweet and kind words about my photos, May. =)
