The Little Skiers.

This winter break, the kids finally got to try skiing. They were very very excited about it and didn't want me anywhere close to them, lest I spoil their fun. But they needed a photographer, right?? That's how, I got to be around...:D
They have never done this before. It was their first time. We rented the skis as we will have no further use for them once we head back to our country. Hubby knew a few basics about skiing as he had attended a course, few years ago. Sonny took in instructions well, but it turned out we had a stubborn princess in our midst, who wanted to do it her way!!!!

Somehow, she was comfortable stopping herself with her behind. No amount of explanation worked. At the end of the day, she was still plonking down to the floor to stop herself as pictured above.

Sonny loved every minute. He listened in earnestness and enjoyed it every bit. Towards the afternoon, we did find a tutor for them who worked patiently with them for two hours.

The kids had a great time with Laura and seemed to have learnt quite a few moves with her. Overall, they enjoyed this sport and are looking forward to doing it all over again. And I did what I do best, snap away!!!! :D

The magical Black Forests!!

Our New Year kickstarted off on the right note. As mentioned in my previous post, an impromptu holiday to the Schwarzwald or the world famous Black Forests of Deutschland. These forests are considered to be an all time favorite destination the whole year through. If you are looking for a magical drive at winter time, then this is the place.

The trees along our drive looked like crystals. And with the setting sun, almost a magical sight.

The name 'Schwarzwald' goes back to the Romans who referred to the thickly forested mountains there as Silver Nigra i.e. "Black Forest", because the dense growth of conifers in the forest blocked out most of the light inside the forest.

I cherish these holidays which create beautiful memories for me, mainly knowing that I may never return to these destinations again!!!

My first post by mail.

This post comes to you all the way from schönwald in the Black Forest. The past month saw me stressed out to the core, that on Saturday I mentioned that I needed a break. Thank heavens for a husband who understood my need. Only problem being we have never ever gone on an impromptu holiday. I always plan the minutest detail and see that we have a full fledged itenary not to forget an excellent accommodation too. As hubby went about making calls, the kids and I attended to the packing and we left home in 2 hours.
Was I glad that we got out of our home. The drive was amazing, quite magical indeed. I felt like Alice in wonderland. To know what I mean, I will post pictures once I am back home.
Right now, husband and kids are skiing on the slopes in front of me. And what am I doing?? Apart from posting, I am warming up my feet in the car which are close to being dead from the cold. The picture is taken from my phone, so please excuse the quality.
