Eis Eis baby..

Some of the things we take for granted back home....
like a bowl of ice cream in a cafe or ice parlor..
Well, we wait for it like crazy here.
You see, these cafes are closed for five months in a year(autumn through winter).
They close with a note pinned up on their door wishing us customers a pleasant winter.
Then, it's a long wait till spring.

And when that happens, I bring out all the pennies and coins for the little ones to have that scoop of ice on a cone.....
For a small town like Lohr, we have quite a few ice cafes..
Our favorite  is Eis Cafe Venezia

They have unique flavors..like the one I had below..
BAGIGI which means peanuts/groundnuts.
I didn't know there was a peanut ice cream!!!

Do you have a favorite ice parlor in town?

  3. I love these posts where I can experience other places. To be honest, I have several favorite ice cream parlors. My fave is the one where they use real blueberries...if you ever come to visit, I'll treat you to one.

    1. Maybe I should also do a post featuring the huge sundaes with real berries and fruits, I tend to have them when I am really hungry!!

  4. I'm surprised the cafes all close for the winter though I can imagine not too many people would want to go out in the freezing weather. Our winters are so mild we still eat icecream!

    1. It's not possible to sit outdoors during winter with temperatures ranging from 0 to -20 C. I think your winters will be in par with Indian winters and that's why we do not stop eating ice cream...:-) The beat part here is that we have other kind of food in these months like glühwein and pipping hot crepes with apple sauce which help us enjoy winters!!

  5. I had a couple of favorite ice cream stops while I lived in Italy. My favorite flavor was always nutella. I no longer have a favorite ice cream parlor but I do have a favorite smoothie one now - it's Dairy Queen.

  6. Oh, I'd love Nutella ice-cream, that's one of the best flavours! Here we can usually just get Nutella as topping on the ice-cream (which is good too)! :-)

  7. We had ice cream tonight...it's very hot here, 98F. The flavor of the day was peanut butter ice cream with caramel and chocolate bits. Good to the last drop!
