Nature's tease

I wanted to get this post up last night but got carried away with the election of the New Pope. It was both exciting and humbling at the same time to witness it all though only on television. Many a times I wished I were in Rome. Maybe the Lord heard me and granted my desire in a small way with the pealing of church bells in our little town. It was truly an exhilarating experience to listen to the bells ring out in joy in the quiet of the night to herald our new leader Pope Francis.

Coming back to the post, nature has been teasing us. Really!!
Take a look for yourself.

After a week of warmer temperatures and first signs of spring we have been dumped with snow, so much that we haven't seen all of winter. And I thought we would soon be needing popsicles, but instead we're having icicles!!! I just think to my self that maybe the snow gods wanted a last goodbye with me?? Who knows..

Since spring is no where around, all these snow covered pine trees make me wish it was Christmas again.

Today..

As I write this post, its snowing softly outside. And I'm sure the town and the surrounding villages look exactly as seen in the pictures below.

(Above pics taken during the last snowfall 10 days ago)

Winter this year as been so very different. We have been experiencing cycles of snow, melt, snow, melt.... which I think makes it look even prettier. Nothing beats the feel and look of fresh snow. And before it gets slushy to a blackened mess, it's all melted and gone, making you long for more.
So as I enjoy nature's miracle within the warmth  of my home, am curious to know what's your day like? Link up and let us know...

Enveloped in white..

“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilirating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather”. John Ruskin

So we did go sleighing with the kids. It was a lot of fun with bumpy rides, uphill climbs, snowball fights....and all that is nice. On our ride back home began the descent of big white fluffy flakes. I chose to get out of the car and walk home through the town. All the while it snowed crazy. It was just me and a lone person here and there taking time to enjoy the magic of winter.

Lohr in white.

The past two days, there's been a continuous light snowfall. But enough to transform everything into pure white. The snow flakes are so tiny, you could sit forever gazing at them falling from the sky and then touch the ground.
I have been taking time to pause at nature's beauty and gaze at this white miracle from the warmth of my home.

At times I did manage to pull myself out too, but without the camera. Hence the selective iphone pics from here and there. The weekend should see us pull out our sleighs, and maybe a snowman in the making and lots of pictures for sure.
Till then, happy weekend all!!

A wee bit early..

A cause for excitement for the kids today....not for me.
Here's why...

While everything looks so very pretty, especially the blend of white and orange,
I am so not ready!!
P.S: Pics taken in the neighbouring mountains of Rechtenbach.
