We finally went to a Christmas market. It was magical. And why was it magical?? It was a market deep in the forest, surrounded by pine trees in snow, candle lit paths to show us the way, illuminated trees, the strong aroma of gluhwein and the warmth of fire....... magical indeed.
It was an experience to walk deep in snow and look around all the illuminated trees.
The handmade crafts make you go crazy. Pictured below is the stall of my tutor who taught me glass art. Isn't her work beautiful??
After walking around, taking in the sights, sipping on schnapps, we went into the warmth of this lodge where we could dig into some Bratwurst and Gluhwein...:) And Frau, I did remember you a lot as I sipped into my gluhwein.
I see what you mean about 'magical.' These shots are amazing. The snow covered tree in with the white lights, is so beautiful.

ReplyDeleteIt would be hard not to feel the Christmas spirit in a setting such as this. I was totally enamored of it all. Truly a place of magic and delight. If I were bundled up warmly enough, I would have loved every single minute. Your photography is stunning and you are wonderful to have shared this true treasure with us.
ReplyDeleteMy father´s family came from Germany. I read some of the original immigrant´s writings about life in Louisiana. No wonder he missed Germany.
