Tuesday's around the world..

Since spring has sprung, almost every other day on her way back from school, my little girl has been gathering flowers from the meadows and bringing them home to me. Yesterday she wasn't home way past her usual time causing my poor heart to flutter. As I prepared myself to go looking for her, she walks in with this amazing bouquet of blossoms, all neatly tied up with wild grass.
Our dining table has never looked prettier than this.

What's spring without some gardening..

(The carnations in the background survived winter. And my froggy friends are finally sunbathing)

So I gave in and got myself a few geraniums. It was very hard to pass by the local florist and whisper to myself to not give in to temptation. Now, my balcony is happy, so am I.

A spring party

And we are having one right now!

Tulpenfeld

The past two years saw us pass by this tulip field on our way to Würzburg. The first year it was a kind of a surprise to spot the colour from a distance. By the time we realised what it was, we had driven way ahead and there was no looking back. Last year, having travelled to the Netherlands to the world famous Keukenhof gardens, my heart and soul were content with the enormous amount of tulips we saw. So this year, when winter turned out to be longer than expected, I kind of began to wonder if I would have this gorgeous treat again.

Two weeks ago we drove by the patch, NOTHING at all.

Not wanting to give up, last weekend we returned again. I wanted to shout for joy on spotting the yellow and red bulbs from a distance.

It was a riot of colours. My husband still cannot figure out my delight considering the fact that it is a very small patch of flowers. To me, it's a feast to my eyes.

We spent a lot of time walking through the length of the field, posing for some excellent family portraits. There were so many varieties of tulips, you had to look through and spot them. We also cut a few to add some colour to my kitchen sill. I want to return to this beautiful spot again. Such is my love for the flowers. I wonder if I will be able to.

P.S: For those wanting to know the exact location of the fields, here's a link to the map. It's located just before Retzbach Zellingen. A half an hour drive from Lohr it's worth a trip. Hurry up before all the flowers fall off.

Happy weekend all!!

We have been hit full on with the burst of spring. In my mind I think, better late than never!
The explosion of colours is unbelievable that I have been trying to be outdoors as much as possible. In the mornings by myself and in the evenings with the kids.
The above is the scene in our backyard. The tree belongs to our neighbours. It's one of the very first to bloom. All of monday I kept a watch to see the changes happening, the buds slowly swelling up to bloom. As of today, with the slightest breeze the flowers come raining down softly, truly a pretty sight.

The weeping willows no longer weep, their long green leaves will slowly be dancing in the wind. Over the weekend we should be also welcoming the cherry and apple blossoms.

It's amazing how a season like spring can lift your spirits and keep you happy all day long.

Dear readers, here's wishing you all a bright, sunny, colourful weekend!!

How does your garden grow?

I miss not being able to garden this year. Our terrace is bare, the pots empty waiting to be cleaned before we pack them up. Gardening is a lot of work and given the fact that we won't be around to see the fruit of my labor, I have just dropped the idea of even giving it a go. Plus, I am saving myself the heartache of then finding them new homes.
So tell me, how are your spring gardens coming along??

Back with spring..

So am back after a long break. A short trip to India in preparation for our upcoming move saw the blog taking a back seat for a while. On return I was surprised myself as to how hard it was to get back into the groove. I missed my home land terribly. It's warmth, vibrancy, colour, noise, the excitement that is INDIA.

Fortunately, spring has arrived and helped me snap out of my trance. Germany is slowly getting green, we wait patiently for the sight of more colour. For now, we are determined to make the best use of the remaining time of our stay. Soon, they will only be memories.
