Facebook and Instagram: December & January

The month of December saw me bombarding my readers on the facebook page with pictures from Instagram. Blame it on the magic of Advent, the german christmas markets followed by travel during our christmas break. It was a season filled with lots of good food, merriment and cheer.

January came with a kind of lull which is expected after a season of festivities. The colour disappeared making way for snow white flakes. We enjoyed our sort of last snow fall(though we are still being treated to some more) with a game or two of sleighing. Grey rainy days too made an appearance every now and then.

A little while ago, the facebook page With Love from Lohr crossed over a 100 likes. I have had so much joy capturing the various moods and faces of Lohr am Main and sharing our experiences with you all my dear readers. All I can say is thank you, Vielen Dank with all my heart!!

October on Facebook and Instagram!!

So I missed the round up of the months of August and September here on the blog. These two months saw me making a lot of NEW friends on both facebook and Instagram.
It's funny how the seasons have greatly influenced the look of my pictures. The collage below looks red, orange and yellow with the odd appearance of Santa in between..:-) Yes, the christmas frenzy here begins as early as mid September!!!

Last month saw us experiencing our first early snowfall, a very very rare sight according to our local friends. Hubby and I went on long walks and did a lot of mushroom spotting. The leaves changed colour too soon and shed them even faster. A kind of disappointing final season of autumn for us. But then, we cannot let that dampen our spirits, right??
We are eagerly looking forward to the season of advent along with maybe a white christmas for the kids. Which reminds me that I have to get my act together soon. How early do you begin preparing for it all??

July(on Facebook and Instagram)

July has been a nice month(apart from the madness of schools closing and never ending activities).
There have been a lot of new faces and friends on the facebook page.
To you all, a warm Hallo, Grüß Gott and Willkommen to With Love from Lohr.
It makes me glad to have you here and interact with your comments and thoughts.

The past month has been a blend of warm sunshine, rain clouds, lots of walks, surprise sunflower fields, a solo trip to Würzburg and one with the family to Bamberg. With the arrival of summer saw the onset of a string of festivals in Lohr. At home, we celebrated Ms A's birthday with her friends, I gave a good wipe to the kitchen in and out and my garden, it's bursting with colours just like the above collage..:-)

June (in Facebook and Instagram)

While I may not be updating my blog 24/7, I do it a lot on my Facebook page through Instagram pictures. I may have gone overboard with my pics, but that's how the past month was. I cannot believe that we are half way through the year. So without any delay here's a recap of the month:

1. We finally got garden furniture and I did spend quite some time drinking tea amidst the flowers.
2. Summer means berries. And some of them went into liqueur making...:D
3. We visited a töpferei markt. It was wonderful and we came back home with this lovely teapot.
4. More time spent in the kitchen. I made confiture!
5. I was tricked into a very long bike ride. My behind was sore for a week!!!
6. I did pluck wild flowers though....they were beautiful.
7. It had been quite long since I stopped by the spielplatz. This netted swing is my kids favorite.
8. I get small treasures once in a while, from the little ones.
9. That is the view right outside the room where I have my violin lessons.
10. Blue skies make for very pretty pictures. The Altes Rathaus or the old town hall on a summer's day.
11. Not all days are fun days...one of those days when it was gloomy and cold and not a soul around.
12. That's my favorite lane...Fischergasse, with very old houses and fairytale gardens.
13. Gingerbread cookies at the altstadt fest which was a week ago.
14. Ms A's farewell grill party at school since all the kids will be going to different high schools the
      coming year.
15. Well, that's how our living room was done up for the semi finals of EURO 2012. Germany
      lost...the kids were disappointed.
16. Have you had peanut/groundnut ice cream before?  I just did yesterday!

Well, I have also begun a countdown on my page yesterday called Lohr am Main 365 where I will be posting a picture everyday. When I look back, I shall have an album full of memories, thoughts and stunning pictures all in one place apart from this blog.

Goodbye May!!

My favorite month has come to an end..:-(
Here's a recap of the pictures posted on my Facebook page.

The month of May saw a burst of green and color, gorgeous blue skies.
I went on a lot of walks by the river Main and meadows. It was all so pretty out there.
My garden too is at it's best, I even cooked my first batch of fenugreek greens!!

We celebrated both father's and mother's day, our birthdays too.
The storm clouds came rolling in once in a while for those cooling showers...
We enrolled our little girl in the german high school......
and I detest ironing with all my heart...:D (I did post a video on the page to show the person who eases the burden of this chore back home in India)

That about sum's up the past month.
If you like what you see why don't you head on over to the page With Love from Lohr and like it?
I would love to see you there.

The month that was!!

This post should have been up yesterday, but let's just say it has been a crazy weekend!! And it will be an even crazier week.
Here are the pictures which made it to my Facebook page last month.
I love interacting with my followers on Facebook and have small dialogs along too.

March saw the onset of spring, my fascination with little german towns and villages continue and yes, I have begun going on walks again. I need to shape up before we are headed back home...:D

And here's my favorite of the month. What do you love to do with your kids on a rainy day? We love to Karaoke! In fact, when we are at it, I wonder when will the neighbors be knocking at our door to quieten us down!! :D

Happy Week Everybody!!

Tschüss Februar!!

February's coming to an end. Am I glad!! I know I have been ranting about the seasons, it's just that the harshness of winter got to me.
Now that the days are slowly beginning to get longer and warmer, I am ever eager to welcome March.

More than a month ago I discovered Instagram for the iPhone and since then I have been updating my Facebook page with easy snapshots while on the go. Tinajo, my bloggy friend does a round up at the end of every month on her favorite pictures which led me to do the same as I realized that these shots never made to the blog..
Which one is your favorite?
Each has a story to tell...

The oranges were bought just because I LOVED the leaves..:D

My orchids finally bloomed and am having gorgeous flowers by my windowsill.

Having missed my all time favorite magazine(GOOD HOUSEKEEPING, India) for 2 whole years, they finally have it available on the iPad!! Don't you just love those tea pots? INDIA is a shoppers paradise, truly!!

And the last, sigh!! Have I ever told you how I so not like watching movies in a theatre. I could not believe that I gave in to my hubby and kids and was made to watch a 3D movie, not just any movie but STAR WARS!!! yikes!! and that too in Deutsch.
In the end, I did get a great picture of the Kino(theatre) though.

By the way, the post title says Bye February in Deutsch..:-)

Facebook The Culprit?

I like reading blogs. Whenever time permits, I just randomly go through them and if a blog interests me, I follow it. Last night as I was randomly reading, I was stunned to read a particular blogger write about how she closed her facebook and twitter accounts and as a result could now blog daily. I am not able to blog on a daily basis, but was facebook the reason? I do not think so.

This got me thinking and when I mean thinking, it meant real hard. I imagined closing my account and BOOM!!! What would happen??? It would feel that the only lifeline I had was cut away from me. Why my lifeline? Surely I would be able to survive!! Yes, I would be able to be breathe and live. No doubt about that.

As an expat living in a foreign land, facebook is what keeps me going. Back home I used to log on to facebook once a month. I never felt the need to be so hooked onto it. I come from a very large family( 8 sets of uncles and aunts and 22 cousins only from my Mom's side and an approximate equal figure from dad's too) where I would have a chat with my mother and sisters on a daily basis, and in-laws on a weekly basis. Birthdays, Anniversaries were never alone, we would have somebody or the other popping in not only on special days, but every other day or two and we loved it. So also, we had family get togethers where we would all meet atleast once a year and have a ball. Calls were cheap and we all knew what everybody was upto. We didn't need facebook to update about our where abouts or what we were upto.

Now that we are away from family, facebook is the only means of being in touch with the large family. There is Skype, Google chat and other means, I know. I do not see myself sending mails and photographs to oh so many people every now and then (95% of the family is on facebook, so it helps). So also vice versa. The last month saw many functions within the family. All they had to do was post countless pictures for me and the kids to see what we missed..:-( Also facebook has helped me reconnect with long lost friends and by friends, I mean those who I have been pretty close to and with whom I have spent some memorable moments of my life.. It feels good to know what's happening with them and share  lives with each other through facebook. Apart from being in touch there is an occasional game of Scrabble that I play and not to forget the farming. I am not an addicted farmer, but do like to visit it now and then. Not sure for how long it will last!!

So, will closing my account mean that I can blog on  a daily basis??? I do not think so. For all you know, cut off from facebook may mean a closure of my blogs too.
